Firewalls and TurboTax

TurboTax 2008 for Win/Mac connects to the Internet to perform tasks such as downloading software updates and e-filing returns. If your firewall prevents TurboTax from accessing the Internet, you can't download or e-file.

Most firewalls prompt for permission when an "unknown" program attempts to connect to the Internet. If a previous request for permission was denied, your firewall may block the program until you add it to the list of programs it allows.

Some firewalls automatically allow TurboTax to access the Internet. For other firewalls, you need to add TurboTax ports and addresses to the firewall's list. View your firewall's Help for specific steps.
