Printer Stops Responding When Printing Return

Using TurboTax on Windows

If your printer's not responding and you're using TurboTax or TurboTax Online on a Windows-based computer, try this:

  1. In TurboTax, hold down the Ctrl key, then go to the File menu and select Print Setup.
  2. In the Printer Configuration window, select Force Low Resolution. Clear all other checkboxes.
  3. Select Save Settings. The window will close.
  4. From the File menu, select Print.
  5. If you're still having the problem, change your printer driver to the next lowest driver in the printer series. For example, use the HP DeskJet 820C driver for a DeskJet 820CSE printer.

Using TurboTax on MacIntosh

If your TurboTax for Mac return starts printing normally, but then the printer stops responding before the return is finished printing, try this:

  1. From the File drop-menu, select Print.
  2. Select the item(s) you want to print, and then select Print.
  3. From the drop-down list, select Background Printing. If this has already been selected, select General.
  4. Select Print.
  5. If the problem persists, again select Print from the File menu.
  6. From the Print Order drop-down list, select Back to Front, and then Print.
