Access and Work with TurboTax State Forms (Desktop)

This article provides you with for working with state tax forms, which are accessed through the TurboTax State product.

TurboTax State transfers information from your federal TurboTax program. It cannot be used as a stand-alone product; you must use a TurboTax federal product (Basic, Deluxe, Premier, etc.) in order to use TurboTax State.

Check for state tax form availability

In most cases, final versions of the state forms are available by late January. Click the appropriate link below to check availability dates for a specific state form. These links will be updated with the latest information as soon as we have it.

TurboTax supports and provides the most commonly used state forms. If a particular form you need isn't included, you can obtain it by contacting your state tax agency or visiting their Web site. Click here to obtain contact information for your state tax agency.

Access a state tax form

Before you can view or open a state tax form, you must 1) have the TurboTax State software for your state installed and 2) be in the state section of the TurboTax Interview. To get there:

  1. Click the State Taxes tab at the top of the TurboTax screen.
  2. Click Continue and proceed another screen or two into the interview.
  3. From the Forms menu, choose Show My Return (to only see the forms in your state return) or Open a Form (to see all supported state forms).
  4. Double-click the desired form, or select it and click the Open button.

To get out of the state interview, click a different tab at the top of your screen, such as Personal Info or Federal Taxes.
